Her zeal for honoring EMS line of duty professionals is inherent, however has been fueled by the loss of close friends, in particular her teammates in a 1997 helicopter crash.
Jana says "I love being in EMS, it gives me purpose. We intersect with people at the most traumatic and vulnerable times of their lives and we have the opportunity to make a difference. Regardless of the outcome, we can make a positive impact. I feel just as strongly that this extends to each other in EMS. Those who have made the ultimate sacrifice deserve our attention for what we can learn from those tragedies and our utmost respect and honor for their service. Continuing this noble work feeds their living legacy."
As a NEMSMS Board Member, Jana coordinates air medical nominations, the helicopter fly over at the service and the family breakfast following the annual service.
