NEMSMS Honoree John McClay Watson

McClay Watson was responding to an emergency call in Roaring Brook, when his sport-utility vehicle was grazed on the side by another vehicle, causing him to lose control. He died of massive head injuries received in the accident on June 17, 1997.

McClay, 18, had joined the Moscow Volunteer Fire & Hose Company Ambulance and was enrolled in an EMT class at the time of the accident. He assisted in public classes in CPR, and in-house training at the ambulance facility.

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, McClay was a 1997 graduate of North Pocono High School. He was enrolled in the freshman class at the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Young Watson was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 132, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

John McClay Watson is survived by his parents, John and Sandy Watson, two sisters, Elizabeth and Alli Watson, his grandmother, Mary Gaughan Watson, and grandfather, John T. Loftus.
